The company operates satellite and communication networks through its business office in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. Active within the telecommunications sector, the company was established in December 2000 by Spanish firm Hispasat S.A. (Hispasat), the ultimate parent of Hispasat Canarias S.L. and a specialist in the exploitation of a communication system via satellite. Since its inception in 1989, Hispasat of Madrid has become an international satellite operator that offers coverage and quality service in Europe, America, Canada and North America. It is responsible for and in-charge of managing the Maspalomas control center, an ESTRACK (European Space Tracking) radio antenna station for communication with spacecraft located at the southern area of the Gran Canaria island. The Maspalomas Station is situated within the premises of Instituto Nacional de Tecnica Aerospacial (INTA), the space agency of Spain. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hispasat.
